This weekend we took Ralph to see my son’s new flat and meet his new girlfriend. Ralph got to play with a whole gang of other dogs in the park and we got to eat and drink and chill and laugh and relax and have a great time.
One Little Egg and the British Hen Welfare Trust
This from Sophie McCoy at One Little Egg:
I am thrilled that Yasmin Coleman has offered a bespoke pet portrait as a mini-auction prize. Her work is incredible. So whoever pledges the highest donation before Saturday will win a bespoke portrait of their pet by Yasmin. It’s an incredible gift for yourself or a loved one, & every single penny will go to the BHWT to help end battery farming. Just email your pledge to: contact@onelittleegg.co.uk
Hello, Kitty
Scott of the Antarctic and The Ice Master
I took some pictures to Soft Options today as I have a display in their window. I thought this would be a good time to take some books back to the library and did this first so I wouldn’t have to carry a heavy bag of books about. Ha! I borrowed more, so still had a heavy bag of books. Amongst those I borrowed were these two:
I’m still finding it fascinating stuff. The Ice Master is about Stefansson’s disasterous 1913 trip to the Arctic…one extreme to the other for me.
Adopt a Vegetarian
Windy day…
The bird table is looking good amongst the few shrubs we have and the birds do visit now. I took this photograph yesterday which is just as well because this morning it has been blown over by the wind! The weather man says we’re going to have storms later today and tomorrow will be chilly and wet like autumn. Pffftt to that!
Woodpecker
Today we walked in the woods. We heard a din and when we looked up saw a woodpecker’s hole, which is something I’ve never seen before. The wood is looking lovely.
Blackpool’s Ian Holloway
Blackpool’s Ian Holloway does make me smile…where is the planet Zarf?
Also loving Miriam Margolyes on Radio Four right now.

Middlemarch or Cloud Atlas?
Having, over the years, abandoned too many books and missed the satisfaction of turning too many final pages, I am plodding on with Authenticity. I am then undecided…Middlemarch or Cloud Atlas? I miss reading well written classics and I get the feeling both these fall under that guise, so am a little torn.
I am still reading The Worst Journey in the World, though I think I may be slowing down with it as I really don’t want it to end but then, there are other books about this expedition which I’m eager to read so I will have those to console me.
It’s a dull, though not cold, day. Just the kind of day made for making a pot of tea and getting lost in a book or getting on with some drawing. Back to work…
