Food Blog

My food related posts are getting a little lost on here and I know there are people out there who follow me for my food (each to his own) so I have created a dedicated food blog which can be found here More Food and Stuff
It is simply a blog
, no other gubbins to clutter it up…all the gubbins are on this blog.

It’s easy to switch from one to the other and you can subscribe to each or both or neither :o)

Very Simple Vegan Cupcakes

I made some very simple vegan cupcakes (due to short notice) but oh my, they are soooooooooo yummy. I think it’s time to join the cupcake revolution and make some fancy ones. The sponge mixture I used is here  but I used ordinary white self raising flour. So, the Brownies at the school fete have vegan, yes, VEGAN cupcakes.

Adopt a Vegetarian

It’s National Vegetarian Week…please eat compassionately.

I had decided to abandon Authenticity, I’m not fussed about the characters and am not enjoying the style, so I wasn’t too bothered when TB knocked over a whole mug-ful of coffee this morning and the book got bit of a soaking. Hey-ho!

Gervase Phinn and the bucket of tea

I have a pint of tea…sometimes you have to go large :o)

TB has just finished The Little Village School, Gervase Phinn’s first novel. He was sent a proof copy to review. I can’t wait to see how tactfully diplomatic he’ll be.

Parmesan, penguins and beer

More posts on the Parmesan debate on Delia Smith’s website
(transcript here)

I’ve read a little more. Mr Cherry-Garrard has set off for Cape Crozier and the Emperor penguins. It still seems to me that no-one, not the men, the dogs nor the ponies were ever going to be fit enough to make it to the South Pole and back; and the supplies were woefully lacking and they all knew it. I get the impression Scott, knowing Amundsen was heading for the Pole was going for it no matter what. I may be doing him an injustice so I shall read a couple more people’s accounts then Ranulph Feinnes’ book, which praises Scott, then still be undecided…

Another beautiful, sunny day but quite breezy. I’ve had yet more Salt and Pepper bread followed by an apple and pecan slice (oh, the shame) but as I had no breakfast I felt justified. There’s beer in the ‘fridge and snooker on television for TB. I shall make a pot of tea (beer’s for boys, tea’s for girls) and snuggle on the sofa with TB and Cherry-Garrard

The Worst Journey in the World

I have started reading this and have begun a review here

Another lovely day here. Lunch in the garden is called for :o)

EDIT: The breeze was a little too chilly for lunch al fresco so we ate in the kitchen. The Toyboy had a cheese, mushroom, onion and spring greens omelette and I had tofu scrambled with Marmite, onions, mushrooms and spring greens all served with new potatoes with soya spread (Vitalite) and rosemary. There would have been a picture to post but it looked so good we couldn’t wait to eat it. Now that TB’s gone to work, the breeze has dropped and it’s lurvly outside…the kettle’s on and my book is waiting.
