Whisby Nature Park

It was a beautiful day so we went to Whisby Nature Park where there are several walks, all dog-friendly and  one of which is especially so, as dogs are allowed off their leads.

Ralph particularly loved Thorpe Lake. There were many dogs playing in the water but somehow not one of them is in this photograph!

Very Simple Vegan Cupcakes

I made some very simple vegan cupcakes (due to short notice) but oh my, they are soooooooooo yummy. I think it’s time to join the cupcake revolution and make some fancy ones. The sponge mixture I used is here  but I used ordinary white self raising flour. So, the Brownies at the school fete have vegan, yes, VEGAN cupcakes.

Hanging Basket :o)

When we opened the front door this morning, we saw that the Hanging Basket Fairy had visited.
We are very lucky to have Janet and George as neighbours.

Amazon Kindle…WANT!!!!!!

Tis TB’s 40th birthday today. The weather looked far from promising so the planned walk and picnic was held indoors (just the picnic, not the walk, we dispensed with that bit).

After much pondering over the Amazon Kindle I decided it wasn’t something I would enjoy using but TB rather fancied one, so that’s what I gave him today (along with something shiny to hang round his neck) and now I WANT ONE!!!!

Happy Birthday, Darling xx
(Is it my turn to Kindle yet?)

A grand day out on the Grand Union Canal

In celebration of the 65th birthday and  very imminent retirement of TB’s father, we spent a day on the Grand Union Canal, which is 100 yards from his parents’ home.

Captain John took charge…

…TB deputised…

…and Ralph took it easy.

It was a really lovely day and I’d like to thank TB’s mother, Mrs Captain, for organising it all and feeding seventeen of us on the canal bank…no mean feat! It’s been a good weekend; a day spent with family, a First Prize for one of my drawings and falling yet deeper…

Tricity iron

Just bought a new iron :o)  (I love ironing). But why is the cable so short it won’t reach the end of the ironing board? It’s not like I have an unusually large board, just the opposite, it’s a little one. Suggestions for solving this will be gratefully received, otherwise it’s going back!

EDIT: TB has extended the cable so all is well.
